Overview
This article describes the high-level architecture of a workflow in SEAtS, showing how the various components sit together at each stage and how the process flows depending on the data processed. Generally, 4 automated stages are deployed and any escalations beyond this lead to a Manual Intervention being initiated.
Workflow Components
- Constraint: Constraints define the inputs of a workflow in SEAtS. They are the parameters used to limit the range of students processed by automated workflows.
- Rule: Rules define the type of information the workflow uses while processing. There is a Success and Failure rule for each stage of a workflow, and it is possible to have multiple rules per stage.
- Rule Criteria: The different categories of rules that can be deployed, based on different calculations and parameters of data that are checked when the workflow runs. Each category has its own Attributes that can be defined at each stage.
- Action: An action that takes place if a rule criteria has been met. Actions differ depending on whether the Success or Failure rule has been activated. Different types and attributes can be defined at each stage.
- Manual Interventions: The process of intervening manually where student engagement or attendance has not improved through the automated process steps.
