Overview
SEAtS supports multiple methods for capturing student attendance. Students can use the SEAtS Mobile App or their Student ID card to check into class.
SEAtS Student App
The SEAtS mobile app provides a seamless solution for students to record attendance via their smartphone. It is available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Students can check in using Bluetooth Beacons, QR codes, GPS, or Class Links. The app also allows students to view their timetable calendar. If a student is offline, attendance events are captured locally and synced automatically when connectivity is restored.
Bluetooth Beacons
Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) beacons allow students to record attendance when in proximity to a beacon. The app records the check-in event directly to the SEAtS cloud platform.
QR Codes / One-Time Passcode
A unique QR code is generated before each class. Students scan it with their SEAtS Mobile App to confirm presence. Lecturers can project the QR code onto a screen. A numerical one-time passcode is available as an alternative for students unable to scan.
Card Readers
Wall-mounted card readers record swipes of student ID cards as they enter a lecture hall. Card readers communicate swipes to the SEAtS cloud platform via an on-site broker server. Multiple card reader models are available.
Portable Beacon
Turn an educator's smartphone or tablet into a portable beacon. Students record attendance using the mobile app when in range of the educator's device. Ideal for offsite events like field trips.
GPS / Geofencing
Students confirm their location relative to event coordinates via geo-fencing. Suitable for ad-hoc class locations, work placements, and clinical apprenticeships.
Online Attendance Tracking
Automatically capture online student attendance from video sharing solutions including Microsoft Teams and Zoom. Tracks frequency, recency, and (for Teams/Zoom) duration data.
