Overview

Attendance statuses in SEAtS describe the outcome of a student's expected attendance at a scheduled event. Each status has a label, and indicates whether the attendance counts as present (Yes), absent (No), or is not applicable (N/A).

Attendance Status Reference

  • Scheduled: N/A. The student is scheduled for the event but attendance has not yet been recorded.
  • Marked As Attended: Yes. The student has been manually marked as having attended by a staff member.
  • Marked As Late: Yes. The student has been manually marked as having arrived late by a staff member.
  • Marked As Absent: No. The student has been manually marked as absent by a staff member.
  • Attended: Yes. The student's attendance was captured automatically via a device (card reader, beacon, QR code, GPS, etc.).
  • Late: Yes. The student attended but checked in after the late threshold defined for that lesson type.
  • Absent: No. The student did not check in and the event end time has passed.
  • Attended Other Lecture: No. The student swiped in at a different event/room from the one they were scheduled for.
  • Absent: Swiped Elsewhere — No. The student swiped in at a reader but not at the correct event.
  • Unexpected: N/A. The student checked in at an event they were not scheduled for.
  • Unscheduled: N/A. A card swipe was recorded but the student is not on the timetable for that event.
  • Authorised Absent: Yes. The student's absence has been reviewed and authorised by a staff member. This counts positively for attendance calculations.
  • Cancelled: N/A. The event was cancelled, so attendance is not applicable.
