This guide explains how to swap locations of a class with another in SEAtS.
The swap class functionality is used to accommodate issues with capacity — for example, Lecture A has 10 students in Room A (capacity 50), while Lecture B has 50 students in Room B (capacity 10).
Criteria for Class Swapping
For a class swap to be made possible, specific criteria must be met: - Start time of both classes must be the same - End time of both classes must be the same
Result of Swapping Classes
Upon swapping classes, only the room information of the classes will be swapped. All other details such as Lecturer and scheduled students will remain the same.
Permissions
Access to the Swap Class functionality is controlled by access profile permission: SEAtS Website > Lectures > Access and Swap Class.
Instructions
- Access the Lectures dashboard
- Find the classes you wish to swap (they must have the same start and end time)
- Select one of the classes
- Click on the Edit Class dropdown
- Select Swap Class
- Click on the Room dropdown and select the Room of the existing class you wish to swap with
- Once satisfied with your selection, click Save to confirm the swap
The page will remain on the Lecture details page. Refresh the page if you wish to view the updated room information. Returning to the Lectures page will show the updated rooms of both classes.
