This guide explains how to merge a class in SEAtS.

There is the ability to merge two classes that are timetabled for the same time. If there are no classes available to merge at that time, there will be no options available for selection.

Criteria to be Met

For a class merge to be made possible, specific criteria must be met: - The start time of both classes must be the same - The module of both classes must be the same - The class you are merging from must only have one module, however you can merge into a class with multiple modules, provided they have a module in common

Results of Merging a Class

- The class that has been merged from will be cancelled - Class details will not be changed — the class that is merged into will retain all its previous details (end time, lecturer, etc.) - The students in the class being merged from will be added to the class being merged into if they are not already present - Attendance statuses will also be carried over with the merge

Permissions

Access to the Merge Class functionality is controlled by access profile permission: SEAtS Website > Lectures > Access and Merge Class.

Instructions

    • Access the Lectures dashboard
    • Find the classes you wish to merge
    • Select the class which you wish to merge into another (it must have the same start time and share at least one module with the target class)
    • Click on the Edit Class dropdown
    • Select Merge Class
    • Click on the Room dropdown and select the room of the existing class you wish to merge into
📝 Note: If no rooms are available, this means the criteria has not been met to allow a class merge.
      • Once satisfied with your selection, click Save to confirm the merge

You will be taken back to the Lectures page. The details of the class being merged into will remain the same, and the class which was merged from will be cancelled.
