Overview

A QR code is a mobile phone readable code that allows students to check in to their event using the SEAtS Mobile App by scanning the code. A unique QR code is generated before each class. Lecturers can project it onto a screen. A numerical one-time passcode is also available as an alternative.

Permissions

The Check-In QR permission in the Lectures area of the access profile settings must be enabled. Once enabled, it applies to all event types (Lectures, Workshops, Practicals, Seminars, etc.).

Displaying a QR Code

Navigate to the Lectures dashboard. Locate the current teaching event. Click on the QR Code icon for the event, or double-click into the event and click the QR code symbol in the menu bar. A QR code will be displayed. Project the screen so students can scan it with the SEAtS mobile app. Once all students have checked in, close the window by clicking X.

📝 Note: The QR code works with the early/late cut-off parameters configured at the Lesson Type level. Students can only check in when they receive the notification in their SEAtS Mobile App.

Displaying a One-Time Code

Follow steps 1–4 above to display the QR code. Click on the eye symbol next to the code field below the QR code to reveal a numerical code. Students can enter this code in their SEAtS Mobile App to check in — useful for virtual events where QR scanning isn't possible.
